Divers are advised not to dive during strong current as there are possibilities
of getting thrown against the coral.
Hukrueli Faru
Also known
as Rangali Madivaru, this place is home to colorful coral reef. This site is
known for offering abundant manta rays during the monsoon season in the
northeast region.
Kudarah Thila
This area has
been declared a “Protected Marine Area” by the Maldivian government. This
popular dive site enjoys the incoming currents that aid in diving process. Coral
reef formations here are bright and colorful.
Maalhos Thila
The best
thing about this dive site lies beneath 25 meters. The attractive dive spot
features coral heads about 28 meters below the surface. Ordinary visitors to
the reef here include oriental sweetlips, white tip reef sharks and blue-lined
snappers. For safety, there are safety balloons deployed here for divers.
Maaya Thila
A great place
for both nighttime and daytime, Maaya Thila is dependent upon the currents. It
is safer when the current are slow. When the currents are strong, it is recommended
that only experienced divers go diving. Check out the white tip reef sharks
that can nearly always be seen here, both during the day and night. On your
diving spree, you will be encountering moray eels, turtles, octopus and
stonefish.
Mushi Mas Mingili Thila (Fish Head)
Being one of
the most popular diving sites in the Maldives, Mushi Mas Mingili or Fish head
has been declared Protected Marine Area by the Maldivian Government. Prior to
this protection act, the area was known for shark feeding. Marine life lovers
can see gray reef sharks, white tips, napoleon wrasse, jacks and tuna here.
